Jenne Pedley's belated blog - Film launched in a lime kiln see http://vimeo.com/27301572

On Sunday the 25th of  July in the Peak District at Millers Dale nature reserve, I  launched a new animation ‘Shadows and Steam’ made for Breath of Fresh Air. Inspired by the drama of the steep valleys and towering viaducts, the four minute film shows the coming of the steam trains, populated by moving silhouettes of local school children.
Inside the lime kiln, next to the old railway track, the public also watched a short film of  local primary school children performing shadows shows about Millers Dale.
To guide walkers along the old railway track, which is now a walking and cycling trail, posters were placed showing scenes from the children’s films.

The public were very enthusiastic about the films, commenting on the simplicity of their style and the way they reveal the history of the landscape. Derbyshire Wildlife Trust organised the event and provided a generator and a lovely assistant to help me. Rick and Chrys from Ignite came for a viewing and a sunny picnic.
The animation Shadows and Steam can be seen on http://vimeo.com/27301572
